John Richard Hobson

He was born in 1954.

In 1983, after spending seven years in the hospitality industry, he began working at Hollings College, having earned a degree in hotel and hospitality administration. Prior to that, he worked at the Grand Metropolitan Hotel and Embassy Hotels. In addition to teaching, his professional competencies include consumer behavior, e-learning, business education, and research design.

He earned a distinguished diploma from Manchester Polytechnic.

In 1991, he was invited to assist in the development of the tourism and hospitality program at Budapest Business University.

In 2003, he earned a master’s degree in management from Manchester Metropolitan University, and from 2009 he served as an associate professor there.

From 2004 he acted as an external examiner at the former Budapest Business College, and later at the Budapest University of Economics, in the fields of hospitality and tourism. As a retired lecturer, he still participates in examinations at BGE KVIK.

In November 2012 the university awarded him an honorary professorship and recognized him for his service.
