Dr. Tóth-Turanitz Katalin

Katka, as her family and friends call her, was born in 1988 in Székesfehérvár into a first-generation hospitality family. From her childhood onward she took part every summer in the everyday life of the Tekergő Restaurant operated by her family. After her studies in France she decided to obtain a degree at the then Budapest Business School (today the Budapest University of Economics, Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism).

During college, beyond the time spent in the classroom, she gained experience at the Náncsi Néni restaurant, then after her years in Budapest she moved back to her hometown to continue their family business with her brother, Gergely. After the complete renovation of the restaurant in Velence, in 2017 they opened their new place in Székesfehérvár, the Patent Gastobar. The next important step on the rocky professional path of hospitality was the purchase of their first barbecue smoker, and they also formed their competition team, Katka Gergő Barbecue. In 2017 they participated in the first international barbecue competition held in Hungary, which they won, thus receiving an invitation to the 2018 American barbecue world championship. In 2018 they collected numerous international barbecue awards as a rookie team. After competing, the operation of the restaurants once again became the focus of Katka’s professional work. Beyond hospitality, family plays a major role in her life, so she shapes the restaurant’s offerings to the needs of families as well. In 2022 her little son was born, so as a full-time mother she is for a while only an enthusiastic “guest” of her restaurants, yet she keeps a watchful eye on their operation. Her long-term goal is to maintain a satisfied guest base, preserve the family business, and continuously develop according to the needs of the guests.
